- Jon Olsen receives Conservation Districts of Iowa Scholarship
- The Cass County Soil and Water Conservation District would like to announce that Jon Olsen was selected as one of the six regional finalist. Fred Kay, Chairman of the Cass County SWCD congratulates Jon for his academic achievements and for representing Cass County. These recipients will receive $300 from the Conservation Districts of Iowa. These scholarships are presented to Iowa high school seniors to be used for their first year of education on the college level while pursuing programs of study in any field of agriculture or natural resources. (This is a wide field and many studies qualify). Jon’s parents are Keith and Barbara Olsen.

Emily’s parents are Chris and Gwen Ullerich of Wiota. Emily has one brother. She plans on attending Iowa State University. Emily was a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, FFA, Student Initiative Mentoring Project, marching band , Pep band, Concert band , Jazz I and II. She also was a member of 4-H, Cass County Cowpokes and 4-H Youth Council the Cass County Youth Action Committee. Emily attends First United Presbyterian Church. Upon graduation from college she hopes to find employment in a livestock production field.
Adam’s parents are Brent and Marsha Bierbaum of Griswold. Adam has 1 sister and 1 brother. Adam plans on attending Iowa State University. Adam was active in National Honor Society, FFA, 4-H and was Secretary of his class. He also participated in football, basketball, track, baseball, and band. He is a member of the Faith Lutheran Church. After graduation from college Adam plans on returning to the area and farming.
Daniel is the son of Steve and Laura Olsen of Marne. He has three brothers and 1 sister. Daniel plans on attending Iowa State University where he plans to earn a degree in animal science. Daniel is active in National Honor Society, track, football, cross Country, FFA and Chorus. He has been a member of the Brighton 4-H Club. Daniel has been very active with the Elk Horn Luther League. After completing his studies Daniel plans to farm.
Christopher is the son of Tim and Jana Steinbeck of Griswold. Chris has one brother. He plans on attending Northwest Missouri State University to pursue a career in agriculture industry. Christopher would like to be an agronomist. He is a member of National Honor Society, Student Council, and Class President and also participates in Basketball, Golf, Baseball, FFA, Jazz Band ,and Show Choir. Christopher has also been active with Church Youth group. Upon completing his studies he hopes to return to the area and work in the family business.
